Profile Summary

I graduated with a PhD in Room Acoustics and Psychoacoustics from the University of Salford, UK, where I was funded by the Portuguese Ministry of Science. I worked for a short while as a Research Fellow with a Marie Curie research fellowship at the Danish Technical University before becoming a lecturer at the Universities of Glamorgan and then Huddersfield.

I am now a senior lecturer and researcher at the Acoustics Research Centre, University of Salford. My research interests span room acoustics, sound reproduction and psychoacoustics, in particular, the assessment of how an acoustic environment, technology or psychological state impacts on the perception of sound quality. More recently I have started a number of projects in Virtual Reality Games, looking at perceptual aspects of auditory awareness, attention and quality in these technologies. I am an investigator in a number of research council and royal society funded projects. I am also a keen student on aspects of Human evolution, perception and brain function.
