Profile Summary

Dr. Kenawy joined the University of Salford in May 2017 as a Research Fellow then a Lecturer at the School of Built Environment. Prior to joining the University of Salford, Inji was a lecturer at the Architectural Engineering Department, the British University in Egypt for three years where she contributed to the program and modules developments and led a number of modules. During this time, she also acted as the academic advisor for the Architecture Student Association and a personal tutor providing academic support to students.

Dr. Kenawy was awarded her Ph.D. in December 2013 from the school of Architecture and Built Environment, Deakin University. Along with her PhD studies, she was involved in lecturing Masters Students at the School of Built Environment as well as delivering workshops for PGR students having different backgrounds as part of her position as the Research Support Officer. In this same period, Inji was the HDR representative in the Strategic Research Center (SRC) committee, the president of the CIB student chapter and a member of the Division of student’s life (ISS-Connect program). In 2012, she was awarded the Graham Treloar prize for the best higher degree by research student with a published paper on sustainability and a finalist in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment’s three minutes thesis competition.

Over her career, Inji has successfully maintained a balance of research, teaching, students’ supervision and scientific activities. Inji had participated in several conferences, attended workshops and training courses and colloquiums in the U.K., U.S.A, Egypt, China, and Australia. She had widely published in different national and international conferences as well as academic journals. To date she published more than twenty-five peer reviewed journal and conference papers. She was part of the organising committee of the Association of Architectural Schools of Australia 2011 Conference and the First International Conference on Sustainability and the Future 2010. She was also part of the scientific committee of Passive and Low Energy Association (PLEA) conferences in Los Angeles 2016, Edinburgh 2017 and Hong Kong 2018; and the International Conference of the Architectural Science Association in Melbourne 2018.  Inji is also a member of the editorial panel of the Journal of Architecture, City and Environment, and is regularly asked to review articles for top journals including Journal of Building and Environment.
