Profile Summary

After graduating from the University of Salford in 2006  I began my career at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) where I gained an interest in endocrinology, safeguarding and caring for children with complex needs. In order to gain community experience I worked as a Special Needs School Nurse developing the service in partnership with education whilst continuing to care for children with complex needs. I reurned to RMCH where I worked on a general medical ward before taking up the post of Specialist Practitioner for the highly specialised Northern Congenital Hyperinsulinism Service. Key achievements include during my time in this post include:

  • Co-ordinator of elective investigative admissions
  • Development of Integrated Care Pathways
  • Nurse Led Clinics
  • Developing the service as a spoke placement for student nurses
  • Research into fish oil as a treatment for low Blood Glucose Levels
  • Contributor to publications based on service audits
