I am a Research Fellow at Community Finance Solutions, a research and development unit specialising in community ownership of assets and microfinance, at the University of Salford where I lead on academic research, policy advice and consultancy work on microfinance, small business finance and Community Land Trusts for public and private sector funders and clients. I also recently completed a PhD looking at the demise of the traditional bank branch manager.
My main research interests are:
- Sociological analysis of restructuring of British banking since 1960s, including drivers, impact and implications for financial and social inclusion;
- Microfinance including social impact, and viable business models for and governance of microfinance providers;
- Small business finance, including debt and equity finance, funding models, impact on local economic development, and role of public private partnerships
