I'm primarily interested in the microbial ecology of amphibian skin and their ability to mediate infection by amphibian chytrid, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis. I'm also interested in microbiome construction (e.g. genetic and environmental variables that influence composition) and how to artifically augment amphibian microbiomes to increase resistance to infectious diseases. I use both field and experimental (in vitro and in vivo) study systems for this research, and work in collaboration with the University of Manchester, Institute of Zoology (Zoological Society of London), and North-West University in South Africa.
