Profile Summary

I am interested in the application of evolutionary theory to address contemporary issues in conservation biology.
My main focus are marine animals, but I also work on freshwater and terrestrial systems, using population genetics to investigate demographic and adaptive dynamics that are relevant to the management of biodiversity.
My three core research areas are: a) the application of molecular and phenotypic tools to resolve population structure in space and time and identify units for conservation and management; b) the integration of molecular genetics and historical ecology to unravel mechanisms that hamper the sustainability of the seafood industry; and c) the application of empirical (molecular) and theoretical
(life history models) approaches to investigate the population genetic consequences of sex-change.
