Comparative Welfare

Shaw, S 2013 'Comparative Welfare', in: An Introduction to Social Policy, Sage , London, UK, pp.144-155.

Abstract

The study of comparative welfare systems often involves classifying or categorizing countries.  An important contribution to this area is the work of Esping-Anderson.  This author's ideas have been critiqued and developed, and this chapter sets out his original typology and provides some up-to-date critique of his work.
