Prior to becoming a lecturer in nursing in August 2004 Elizabeth was ward manager on a children's acute medical ward in a District General Hospital. Prior to becoming a ward manager Elizabeth gained clinical experience nursing acutely ill children in intensive care and several District General Hospitals. Elizabeth trained and worked as an intensive care nurse in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at St Mary's Hospital in London and the Children's Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London where she worked. Elizabeth subsequently has a clinical interest in the early recognition of acute illness in children.
Elizabeth is a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission.
As a lecturer Elizabeth works with both pre-registration and post- registration nursing students, she is a first year lead on the BSc (Hons) Nursing pre-registration programme and a module leader on the MA pre-registration Nursing Programme.
