Profile Summary

My research interests fall into two broad categories i) teaching and learning and ii) patient experience of diagnostic imaging

i) My teaching and learning interests are related to the Student Experience, Retention and Widening Participation. These interests are reflected in various School roles I have held during my time at Salford such as WP and Retention champion.  My EdD thesis was also related to the student experience. This explored how diverse groups of students manage to negotiate a common communication strategy to enable them to effectively engage in Problem Based Learning. Research methodologies used for this were discourse and thematic analysis.

ii) My discipline is radiography,  and my developing expertise in qualitative research methodologies is being utilised within the Diagnostic Imaging Research Programme themes to investigate the patient experience of imaging. I am currently leading a project to explore the value of social networks for first time attenders to the NHS breast screening programme.
